Man Cannot Run On Beer And Curry Alone!!
Preparations for the Loch Ness Marathon could be going better. Things were moving along reasonably well with regular training sessions long runs with improving heart rate scores, I've also been experimenting with my hydration and energy fuel consumption which has been working well.
Then 10 days ago I got a bout of food poising. Without going into the gory details over a 12 hour period I lost 1/2 a stone in weight. Some might say that I would benefit from that sort of weight loss however this was nothing more than water, (of various different colours!!). This meant I missed 5 days of training and was exhausted.
I felt that my recovery was going well and put in some quality runs at the start of the week. I was then sent down to London for three days with work. Although I managed to squeeze in a gym session my discipline wasn't maybe what it should have been culminating in copious amounts of bacon rolls, beer and curry, and distinct lack of running, water, and sleep.
Put these factors together and it meant that my run today was nothing short of terrible. Just over 9 miles with an average heart rate of 170bpm (which is gash), I was sweating profusely and my legs felt like lead.
Lesson learnt. The next 2 weeks will see a dramatic increase in water consumption aiming for about 3-4 litres per day, a healthier diet and proper sleep pattern hopefully about 7/8 hours per night.
The journey continues!

Training Diary
Just a short message to mention that James has been working round the clock to update our website with an individual training diary. Many of you have asked what is it that we do in order to prepare for our events, well from now on just visit our "training" page and follow the links.
This is particularly handy as I'm just back from a 19-mile training run and I'm quite happy to tell the world about how sore my legs are!!!
Cheers
Keith
